Arloesi Dolgellau is equipped with a variety of sewing equipment for repair and reuse of fabrics as well as high level digital equipment including 3 3D printers, a 3D scanner, a laser cutter, heat press, slide, photo and book scanners, and a suite of creative applications. It’s a space where people can exchange and learn new skills, repair and reuse items, and collaborate with others. Arloesi Dolgellau aspires to be a hub for local entrepreneurship, the circular economy, tech-enabled projects, and creative business. Arloesi Dolgellau aims to capitalise on Dolgellau’s status as a Smart Town to explore the deployment of Internet of Things technologies.
Huw Thomas and Anna Lewis are Arloesi Dolgellau’s two directors. Huw has been involved in a number of startups in energy, logistics, and data space. Anna has a background in community support in North Wales, helping local volunteers and community groups get projects off the ground. Sandi is the space’s Innvoation Coordinator. Sandi has a background in IT and, in more recent years, has developed her own soap-making business. She is a regular volunteer at the Barmouth Ffiws site, Tanio.
